Break Da Bank Again

The age of the sequel is alive and kicking, and that doesn’t just apply to Hollywood and its blockbusters. Microgaming knows when it’s found a good thing and it knows how to capitalize on a franchise that excited its customers. Break da Bank Again lacks a clever name but is a truly worthy follow up to the hit slot Break da Bank. There are massive paydays to be had — although there isn’t a true jackpot.

How to play

Break da Bank Again features five reels and nine play lines, and players are required to play all nine lines on each spin. Players vary their best by adjusting coin sizes, which range from $0.01 to $0.25. This means every bet ranges from $0.09 to $22.50.

Beyond the standard 10, J, Q, K and A symbols, the game has five other symbols:

  • Coins (pays between 10 and 200 coins)
  • Check (pays between 12 and 500 coins)
  • Cash (pays between 15 and 750 coins)
  • Gold Bars (pays between 20 and 1,000 coins)
  • Gem (pays between 25 and 1,500 coins)

The game also has scatter and wild symbols, represented respectively by a Vault Door and the Break da Bank logo.

The Vault Door is a way for players to pick up some free spins. If three or more scatter symbol appear anywhere on the reels, players get 15 free spins. Land four for 20 spins and five for 25 free spins. Once you’re entered into a free spin round, you can add more free pulls to your tally by landing more Vault Doors.

The Break da Bank symbol acts as a wild that can be used to build winning combinations. Even better, it acts as a 5x multiplier at all times, except in free spin bonus rounds, when it spikes to a 25x multiplier.

Graphics and Sounds

The game takes place over a purple background with black reels and vibrant symbols. The letters are all different colors and the symbols are all digital representations that lack animation, but are visually pleasing enough. The only symbol that launches any sort of graphic is the Vault Door, which swings open to present players with free spins when the time comes.

Break da Bank Again has a classic Vegas feel to it, and that’s especially true of the way it sounds. The background music is a sort of swinging jazz beat, including a keyboard and some brass. You’ll get a classic set of Vegas bells congratulating you on winning spins, too. There aren’t to many other special sounds, other than a brief effect when the Vault Door opens.

Jackpot

Players can land nearly $25,000 on a single spin on Break da Bank Again. There isn’t technically a true jackpot here — you’ll have to check out one of our recommended progressive jackpots for that. But for a game lacking such a jackpot, Break da Bank Again’s biggest payout is pretty massive. Players can pull in as many as 98,750 coins on a single spin, which, on a max bet of $22.50, results in a $24,687.50 payout. The way to do this is to hit with some wild and scatter symbols and ride all the free spins to massive winnings.

Break da Bank Again is a high volatility slot. The house holds a five precent edge, but the good news is that if you win, you’ll win in quick bursts, which is way more fun and creates the potential to overcome a losing streak quickly.

Special features

Break da Bank Again is mostly looking to lure you in with its standard game play and payouts, so the grandest special feature here is the free spin bonus round. There are some important differences in game play between regular pay and the bonus round — For one, the free spins are free (shocker!), and who doesn’t like that? Just as important, the scatter and wild symbols change in value during the bonus round. Just a single Vault Door anywhere on the map will result in extra free spins, while the wild symbol suddenly becomes a 25x multiplier — a big jump from the 5x multiplier during regular play.
