NetEnt Makes The Jump To HTML5

Online casino developers are being forced to follow the web browsers’ move to the new HTML5 format.

NetEnt, one of the world’s largest and most prolific developers of online casino games, has announced its intention to exclusively use HTML5 in its programming.

The change will see the company move away from using Flash Player in its gaming creations. The move was widely anticipated due to the general phase out of Flash Player currently ongoing amongst nearly all major web browsers such as Chrome.

“This is an exciting time as we expand our technological reach and it is crucial we are able to give players the chance to keep playing their favourite games,” said NetEnt’s Chief Product Officer, Henrik Fagerlund in a statement to the company’s website.

In-Browser Play Critical

Online casino developers are being forced to follow the web browsers’ move to the new HTML5 format. Many online casino players enjoy the freedom of playing their favorite games from their desktop or laptop without any download required, and that’s only possible if players’ have access to in-browser play.

Still, there are other benefits to the move beyond player experiences. HTML5 is generally conserved to be faster and powerful than Flash Player, and NetEnt’s crack team of developers will now be able to leverage the technology to create even more compelling gaming experiences.

NetEnt Mobile Online Casino Games Make The Jump As Well

Critically, NetEnt also announced its intention to convert its mobile game offerings as well. Omni-channel experiences are important to today’s players, who want to be able to take all of their games with them on mobile and tablet devices.

“Given the growth of mobile gaming, we have to continue establishing ourselves as an industry leader by making these advancements and moving with the times,” Fagerlund said.

For now, 70 of NetEnt’s top performing titles have made the jump, with more expected in the near future. Canadian players can also get a glimpse of the future by checking out the company’s new HTML5 based titles — including Dracula, Jackpot 6000, and Excalibur — at their favorite online casino.

If they are any indication, the HTML5 era promises to bring players more fun and lucrative experiences than ever before.
