Evolution Gaming’s first Canadian Live Casino Launches
First announced in April 2017, PlayNow.com is now the proud provider of Evolution Gaming’s first live casino games streamed from Canada.
Earlier this month, the British Columbia Lottery Corporation made a huge announcement. They announced that PlayNow.com has launched the first live dealer casino in British Columbia1. PlayNow.com is run provincially by British Columbia authorities.

This Canada-based live casino is Evolution Gaming’s first outside of Europe. The five-year deal between the British Columbia Lottery Corporation and Evolution has currently resulted in ten live streamed table games.
Ten months in the making
In April 2017, Evolution Gaming announced their plan to launch in Canada. This is their eighth live casino studio and the only one not based in Europe. The Canada-based live casino is in a Metro Vancouver facility. Evolution Gaming’ first facility in Canada is set to create around 170 jobs2.
Evolution Gaming is the biggest name when it comes to live casino games. They are known for their high-definition streaming, professional dealers and inventive games. The fact that Evolution released ten different games on PlayNow.com shows their huge range.

British Columbia Lottery Corporation expanding repertoire
The British Columbia Lottery Corporation signed with Evolution Gaming last April. The plan was to bring a new level of gaming to their players in Canada. On the provincially-operated site, the BCLC has been able to bring a new level of gaming.
These new live dealer games are top of the range and will surely achieve the BCLC’s goal. They wanted to deliver “an authentic casino experience” 4. Few other game developers can do so as well as Evolution Gaming does.
But that’s not the last that we’ll hear from the British Columbia Lottery Corporation. Expanding the reach of its online gambling portfolio is a huge focus. It’s well known that Canada enjoys online casino games. So, further exploits into the field from the likes of the BCLC can only be a good thing.
One of the BCLC’s upcoming plans looks set to be in virtual reality gaming. The BCLC agreed a $250,000 deal with Archiact Interactive in January 2024 5. The Canada and China-based company has been employed to create VR games.
They’re not iGaming-related so far, though. Archiact Interactive has been hired to create a room escape puzzle game. However, given the BCLC’s stance in the gambling scene, expanding into VR casino games seems inevitable.
